Myofunctional Therapy

Myofunctional therapy focuses on the muscles and functional patterns of the mouth, tongue, face, and airway. Therapy supports the development of healthy oral habits, breathing patterns, tongue function, and overall oral muscle coordination.

Myofunctional therapy may support concerns related to:

  • Mouth breathing
  • Tongue thrust
  • Tongue tie impacts
  • Oral rest posture
  • Chewing and swallowing patterns
  • Sleep-disordered breathing concerns
  • Orthodontic stability and support
  • Oral habits such as thumb sucking or prolonged pacifier use

Treatment involves individualized exercises, education, and habit-based strategies designed to improve oral function and support long-term outcomes. Therapy is often collaborative and may work alongside orthodontists, dentists, physicians, physiotherapists, chiropractors or other healthcare providers when appropriate.

Myofunctional services are offered for both children and adults.
